Project Description
Bridgeall were engaged by Whyte and Mackay to undertake a Discovery phase on a number of key projects related to capturing data across the Whyte and Mackay business. We worked with the team to create a Distributor Stockholding solution, which would look at the stock that distributors currently hold, as well as the distributors forecasted depletions over a future rolling 12-month period.
About Whyte and Mackay
Founded in 1844, Whyte & Mackay are a market leader in the global spirits business with an award-winning portfolio of world-renowned brands. As well as making their own single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, Whyte and Mackay also own renowned brands Dalmore, Jura, Tamnavulin and Fettercairn single malts, along with Glayva liqueur and Vladivar vodka.
Challenges facing Whyte and Mackay
As part of their strategy for growth, Whyte and Mackay required a solution to manage visibility of their stock distribution. The team had been managing this data manually for a subset of distributors but want to understand the full picture in terms of distributors stockholding and planned depletions.
To create the distributor solution, we set up a Power Pages site using customised Azure B2C authentication for secure access for distributors. We built a customised data grid allowing for efficient and streamlined data input, all of which was tied to Microsoft Dataverse. This allows Distributors to quickly and easily provide the information required.
Account managers at Whyte & Mackay can also view the data in real time using a model-driven app available to internal staff. This is directly integrated into the solution allowing Account Managers to control distributor access into the portal and allowing them to collaborate with their distributors and have informed discussions about the data.
As a result of our efforts, Whyte and Mackay were able to realise the following benefits across the business:
- The company now has a better insight into their distributors stock levels and planned depletions helping the team to collaborate with distributors easily and keep track of any changes or impacts to stock levels.
- The tracking process has been greatly improved.
- Improved process with a more unified interface.
- The team can now be more efficient in their production planning and help account managers understand when distributors will likely require orders of stock.
- The data captured by the solution can also be compared with other datasets within Whyte and Mackay such as Sales and Orders allowing further insight to be gained.
