Bridgeall Supports the Real Living Wage

Bridgeall is delighted to support the Living Wage Foundation, the UK based organisation campaigning for wage rates based on real living costs rather than the government minimum.

Independently calculated based on ‘what people need to get by’, the real Living Wage currently stands at £9 per hour for everyone over the age of 18yrs (£10.55 London weighting). This compares with the Government’s National Living Wage of £8.21 per hour for over 25s, with no London weighting.

While the Government’s National Living Wage is based on a percent of medium earnings (currently 55%), the real Living Wage is considerably higher being calculated according to what ‘employees and their families need to live’, the cost of living based on a basket of household goods and services.

Given the skills and extensive experience of our own staff, payment of the Living Wage is not really an issue for Bridgeall as a company. However, we are more than happy to be joining the 5,000 plus UK businesses (including a third of FTSE 100 employers) supporting the Foundation's campaign for a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.

The video below highlights the work of the Foundation in more detail. Their web site can be found here – Living Wage Foundation.
