Introducing Microsoft 365

Unveiled at the recent Inspire premier partner event, Microsoft 365 brings together three primary services – Office 365, Windows 10, Enterprise Mobility & Security – aimed at delivering ‘a complete, intelligent and secure solution to meet the rapidly changing needs of the modern workplace’.

365 will be available in both ‘Enterprise’ and ‘Business’ versions.

Available for purchase from the 1st August, Microsoft 365 Enterprise integrates Office 365 Enterprise, Windows 10 Enterprise and Enterprise Mobility & Security. Designed to meet the needs of large organisations, a broad range of apps and services are included to support teamwork, providing employees with considerable flexibility and choice in how they connect, share and communicate. Unified IT management across users, devices, apps and services is provided with built-in, intelligent security safeguarding customer data, company data and intellectual property.

Built on the foundation of the highly successful Secure Productive Enterprise, Microsoft 365 Enterprise will empower employees to work collaboratively, creatively and securely. It will be available in two plans – Microsoft 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E5.

Microsoft 365 Business is designed for small-to-medium sized businesses with up to 300 users. It integrates Office 365 Business Premium with tailored security and management features from Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility & Security.

Key business benefits include:

  • Improved productivity and efficiency by better connecting employees, customers and suppliers.
  • Empowering employees to work from anywhere, on any device.
  • Protection of company and customer data across devices with always-on security.
  • Simplified set-up and management of employee devices and services with a single IT console

Microsoft 365 Business will be in public preview on the 2nd of August and available worldwide in the autumn.

In addition to the above, Microsoft have also announced the preview of three tailored applications for Office 365 Business Premium and Microsoft 365 Business aimed mainly at small-and-medium sized enterprises.

  • Microsoft Connections – a simple-to-use email marketing service
  • Microsoft Listings – for publishing business information on top sites
  • Microsoft Invoicing – for creating professional invoices

Microsoft’s mileage tracking app, MileIQ, is also now included with Office 365 Business Premium.

In a follow-up post to be published next week, we will examine in a more detail the Enterprise Mobility & Security solution as a way of ensuring protection and governance from cyber-attacks, protecting the integrity and security of your data. With the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) taking effect from the 25th May 2018, this has become a mission critical requirement for all organisations.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like more information about Microsoft 365 and/or your new legal responsibilities under GDPR.

As always, comment and feedback are very welcome.
