Project Operations is an evolution of the existing project management and accounting modules inside Dynamics 365 Finance as well as the previous Project Service Automation (PSA) solution found in the Sales CRM from Microsoft. This additional visibility and level of collaboration means you can ultimately handle projects right from the quoting stage all the way to the financials.
License options for Dynamics 365 Project Operations
To understand how Project Operations is licensed we need to look at the Base and Attach model. The Base and Attach model is designed to help users to save money on licenses. Each user must be assigned a Base license for an application and then be assigned Attach licenses for additional apps per user. For example, an organisation can have a Sales and Finance application but unless a user requires access to both, then the discount will not be available.
If you were to opt for Project Operations as your Base license, the following licenses would qualify for a discount: Customer Service Enterprise, Customer Service Professional, Field Service, Human Resources, Sales Enterprise and Sales Professional.
To use the application, you are required to purchase a minimum of 20 licenses.
