Tell us more about your role and what it involves?

I am an IT Support Engineer in the Cloud Services Team. My work consists of supporting our existing customers and working on a variety of new projects.

How long have you been working at Bridgeall?

Nearly 9 years now, beats my previous longest employment of 6 years in McDonalds.

What do you like most about your job?

The people are a large part of it. The work is varied, and we often get to use the newest technology which is refreshing and allows for continual learning and development.

What does a typical day for you look like?

The average day has a similar start of working through proactive system checks to ensure all systems are running as expected. Assuming no fires, typically work on support requests that come in or project work depending on what is on.

What is your background?

I have a degree in Business Computing, I graduated in 2002 and after a bit of travelling started working in IT in 2004. I have passed several Microsoft certifications over the last 15 years due to the changing nature of IT new certifications will always be required and are a great way to keep up to date with the newest technologies. I most recently passed the MS-101 Microsoft Mobility and Security and the MS-100 Microsoft 365 Identity and Services certifications which again have helped me keep on top of changing technologies.

What is it like working at Bridgeall?

It’s been great hence my 9 years’ service, I would always recommend it to other people. The work is varied, interesting and I work in a good team.

How have you found moving to working from home?

It’s been good overall; I regularly work with the same customers and with the adoption of Microsoft Teams, I am on regular video calls which has helped my relationship with them and I know them better than I did pre-pandemic. Previously in the office it would have been just phone calls. With not having to travel I have enjoyed more time with my daughter before and after work.

Favourite project you’ve worked on?

I enjoy the variety of projects I get to work on so I would say there are many different ones. Working with different customers and helping on various projects keeps me on my toes. Overall, I like the problem-solving aspect of my role and enjoy resolving issues in support.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I have a 3-year-old daughter, so my spare time is largely spent playing with her, outside of that I try and squeeze in a bit of tennis, football and a few beers now and again.

Something on your bucket list?

I was fortunate enough to do a little bit of travelling to Thailand and Australia after university, my wife is often jealous, and I would love to visit some of these places together.
