During the recent Ignite Conference, Microsoft announced the launch of Project Cortex, the company’s first new commercial product since the launch of Microsoft Teams in 2017.

Cortex automatically organizes content across your teams and systems to connect topics like projects, products, processes and customers.
Topic pages and knowledge centres – created and updated by AI – enable experts to cultivate and share knowledge with wiki-like simplicity, while topic cards deliver knowledge just-in-time across Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Office.
Project Cortex turns your content into a knowledge network, with innovations in smart content ingestion to analyze documents and extract metadata with sophisticated AI models; machine teaching, to allow subject matter experts to teach the system how to understand semi-structured content; and knowledge retrieval to make it easy for people to access the valuable knowledge that’s so often locked away in documents, conversations, meetings, and video.
Building on the leading content services of SharePoint, Project Cortex lets you connect to external systems and repositories, use advanced AI to automate content capture, categorization, and management, and protect information with intelligent security and compliance.
The service will be in private preview before becoming generally available in the first half of 2020.
